2022: Maine + Acadia National Park

Figuring out a better way to catalog our trips.. I thought I would start with our first national park and go from there. Might go backwards if I get caught up. Don’t know if I’ll add more detailed write-ups to these posts but I may in the future.

  • Day 1:
    • Flew into Portland and immediately went to Portland Head Light to grab a couple lobster rolls from Bite Into Maine
    • Checked into Hilton Canopy
    • Had cocktails at Blythe & Burrows and really wanted the Tom Yum cocktail but didn’t get to try it…
  • Day 2:
    • Walked from hotel to Holy Donut to get a half-dozen potato donuts for later
    • Had brekkie at Salt Yard Cafe & Bar which was super good (same building as hotel + had a $30 food credit for being Hilton Gold or something)
    • Drove to Castine, ME to meet up with Alex who was working at Adam Gallery for the season
    • Alex showed us around the town to Wadsworth Cove Beach and the Dyce Head Lighthouse
    • Had dinner after at Dennett’s at the Wharf
  • Day 3:
    • Played cards at Compass Rose Books + got tea
    • Drove to our campsite at Acadia NP
    • Pitched our tent + waited for the rest of the group to arrive
    • Sweet sleep
  • Day 4:
    • Probably hiked – saw Thunder Hole and hiked Bee Hive (stunning!)
    • Don’t remember what lunch was, dinner was in Bar Harbor?
    • Campfire night!
  • Day 5:
    • Woke up 2:30am to hike North Ride Trail
    • Parked at trailhead + was the 3rd car there
    • sunriiiiise
    • -sleepy the rest of the day probably-
  • Day 6:
    • Fly out of Bangor

This write-up ended up being not-generic – ended up remembering a lot + photo location tags helped.
